Target Security Specialist Assets Protection (AP) role at Target
As a Target Security Specialist, you help keep guests, team members, and brand safe, mitigate shortage risks, prevent theft and fraud, and respond to incidents. The role involves engaging with store leaders and public safety officials and following AP policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests at the front of the store.
Promote a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner.
Address guest issues to provide a safe and secure environment for guests and team members.
Use de-escalation tactics and resources when responding to security incidents across the store.
Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support in line with AP policies.
Prevent theft and shortage by performing merchandise receipt checks and communicating trends, following AP policies.
Submit documentation in the case management system for all incidents per AP policy and procedures.
Understand and use Target's video surveillance system appropriately.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
Other duties as required by business needs.

Open to a flexible schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times). Training is provided, but a few prerequisites include: At least 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Meet any state or local licensure and/or legal requirements related to the position Welcoming attitude toward guests and team members Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology Effective communication, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and prioritize tasks Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
Operational Basics
Climb ladders; scan, handle and move merchandise safely (up to 40 pounds). Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); reliable attendance required. Work in varying temperatures and environments; stay mobile for shift duration.
