You will be working on a team that is building a cloud-based development environment. You will work with a multi-disciplinary collaborative team of hardware, software engineers and security specialists to design and implement a secure cloud-based software development and maintenance environment. You will be part of our employee-owned international research and engineering company. ARA is recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences, and you will be on this team.

Staff Cloud Engineer - Cloud Platforms Position Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship

(No exceptions; green card holders are not eligible)

Current DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)

Bachelor's degree or higher in IT, CS, or other closely related field with 5-7 years of relevant work experience

OR

MS with 3-5 years of relevant work experience

Successfully acquire and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access

Successfully obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CCNA-Security, etc.) within 60 days of hire

Good oral & written communication skills

Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team & department performance

Willing to work on-site, daily, at our Raleigh, NC or San Antonio, TX location

Staff Cloud Engineer - Cloud Platforms Preferred Experience & Skills as a Cloud Engineer:

While the qualifications listed above are important, the following experience can help you ramp up quickly and maximize your impact:

Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms

Proficiency in programming languages like: C++, Java, Go or Python

Familiarity with containerization technologies like: Kubernetes, Helm, Amazon ECS/EKS or OpenShift

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as: Jenkins, GitLab or Argo

Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack)

Basic knowledge of monitoring tools similar to: AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus or Grafana
