The Investment Associate, Residential Credit will be responsible for assisting with the firm's investments and structuring of investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Triage new investment opportunities in residential credit
Support the underwriting process of new investment opportunities; this includes:
Understanding fundamental drivers of performance
Run and verify cash flow models to ensure accurate pricing of investments
Developing and optimizing a capital structure (levering structural features typical to public securitizations) for the potential investment opportunity and allocation to Metlife managed investment funds
Leveraging in-house built models and applying appropriate calibrations to model performance expectations in various future credit markets
Comparing and contrasting performance expectations to empirical evidence drawn from private and public information
Assess portfolio performance relative to trade date expectations
Understand market participants, technical price patterns, and alternative return strategies
Help build relationships with sellers and clients
Take initiative and drive tasks forward
Develop investment and cash flow models as needed to evaluate investment opportunities
Assess investment opportunity variants and determine the optimal pricing protocols
Present recommendations on the pricing of investment opportunities to senior investment professionals
Price various forms of credit risk using proprietary models
Seek ways to scale the investment process
Take initiative and drive tasks forward
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
3-5 years of work experience in mortgage or ABS investments that emphasize quantitative methods and structuring
Cash flow modeling skills
Understanding of fixed income and residential mortgage credit
Organized with processing and coordinating information on deals
Ability to methodically solve problems and quantify solutions
Experience working in a result-oriented environment with multiple competing deadlines
Demonstrated commitment towards achieving career growth and deepening knowledge base
Strong skills related to data manipulation and analysis including technical abilities such as python or other similar coding skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills that can tailor to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong PC skills required, including extensive experience with spreadsheets
Strong analytical skills and strict attention to detail
Knowledge of financial concepts including but not limited to financial statements, fixed income investments, credit risk, swaps and other derivatives
Preferred:
Undergraduate degree; MBA preferred.
