Midwest Vision Partners is seeking a strategic and specialized Category Manager to take ownership of a specific portfolio of products for MVP. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, developing and executing long-term strategies for key spend areas like surgical supplies or pharmaceuticals. You will work closely with the Procurement Manager to drive significant value through cost optimization and innovation within your assigned categories. This role reports to the Director of Procurement. This is a Hybrid role only in IL. WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON Develop and execute category management strategies to optimize total cost of ownership for your assigned product portfolio. Serve as the subject matter expert for all products and suppliers within your category, staying abreast of market trends and technological advancements. Lead all sourcing, negotiation, and contract management activities for the category, ensuring quality and competitive pricing. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, including clinical teams and practice managers, to align on category needs and performance. Manage a comprehensive negotiation pipeline for all contracts within the category, ensuring timely renewals and proactive engagement. Identify, develop, and implement cost-reduction initiatives and process improvements specific to your category. Collaborate with the Procurement Analyst to ensure accurate data reporting and performance tracking for your category. WHAT WILL MAKE YOU AWESOME Deep expertise in medical procurement categories (e.g., surgical supplies, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic equipment) with a clear understanding of vendor landscape, pricing structures, and compliance considerations. Advanced negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of securing favorable terms, managing risk, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. Proven experience developing and executing complex sourcing strategies to drive long-term value. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, collaborating seamlessly across clinical and operational teams. A results-driven mindset, demonstrated by a history of driving significant and measurable cost savings while maintaining quality and service standards. WHAT YOU KNOW To be successful in this role you will have the following experience or knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., CPSM) is highly desirable. Minimum of 6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain, with at least 2 years of direct category management experience, preferably in the healthcare or medical device sector.
