Leasing Specialist: Freeport, Illinois
A well-established company in Freeport, Illinois is seeking a motivated professional to join their team as a
Leasing Specialist . This part-time, 1st shift position provides steady hours and the opportunity to support applicants and residents through the leasing and re-certification process while ensuring accurate records and excellent service.
Responsibilities of the Leasing Specialist:
Process applications, identify qualified applicants, and manage waiting lists and tenant selection plans. Compile documentation such as income verifications, medical expenses, and other supporting paperwork for move-ins and re-certifications. Conduct applicant intakes, lease signings, and re-certification interviews using standardized checklists and forms. Monitor and process change-of-information notifications to keep tenant records current. Recalculate rent and monthly payments as needed, ensuring accuracy in tenant accounts. Assist with community meetings, tenant file audits, and coordination with the maintenance team. Organize and maintain applicant and tenant files to ensure timely completion of all leasing steps. Provide excellent customer service to residents, applicants, and service providers. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and ensure a professional office environment. Leasing Specialist Requirements and Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in social work, human services, business administration, or related field; or two years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s preferred). Strong customer service skills with the ability to work with diverse populations. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to operate standard office equipment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must hold a valid Illinois driver’s license and pass a background check. Certification in Occupancy Specialist and Rent Collection required within one (1) year of hire (training provided). Pay for Leasing Specialist:
$16.00–$18.00/hour
