The Senior Outside Sales & Estimating Representative plays a strategic, client-facing role responsible for driving business growth and managing key accounts in the commercial door, frame, and hardware industry. This position combines relationship-based selling with high-level estimating expertise for complex projects, supporting opportunities from preconstruction through contract award. Ideal candidates are experienced professionals who excel in a fast-paced, construction-focused environment and have a proven ability to win high-value bids while building lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Outside Sales & Business Development Identify and pursue new business opportunities with general contractors, construction managers, architects, and developers.
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships with key decision-makers.
Represent the company at client meetings, bid walks, preconstruction conferences, and industry events.
Develop and execute a sales strategy that aligns with company revenue goals.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction from bid through project completion.
Estimating & Technical Expertise Perform detailed take-offs and estimates for Division 8 products based on plans and specifications.
Provide consultation on product selection, value engineering, and code compliance (ADA, NFPA, etc.).
Interpret complex construction documents to identify risks and opportunities.
Manage the full bid process, including vendor pricing, bid strategy, and proposal preparation.
Ensure estimates are competitive and meet internal margin requirements.
Client & Project Management Support Partner with project managers and procurement teams to transition awarded jobs smoothly.
Serve as a technical resource for clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and construction trends to provide strategic recommendations.
Required Qualifications 5–10 years of experience in the commercial door, frame, and hardware industry, with at least 3 years in outside sales or senior estimating.
Strong knowledge of Division 8 products and manufacturers (Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, Dormakaba, etc.).
Proven ability to build client relationships and close multimillion-dollar projects.
Established relationships with top regional contractors or architectural firms
Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction
drawings/specifications.
Knowledge of ADA, NFPA, ANSI/BHMA, UL, and other industry codes.
Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
DHI certifications (AHC, CDC, EHC) or equivalent credentials.
Proficiency with estimating software (Pro-Tech) or equivalent
Experience with access control hardware and integrated security solutions.
Familiarity with local building codes and permitting requirements.
