U.S. News and World Report’s 2021 School Ranking listed all ReGeneration elementary schools among the top ten charter elementary schools in Illinois. The recent CREDO study from Stanford University named ReGeneration as the top gap-busting schools in ELA in the state of Illinois and third in Math. We are seeking an experienced full-time
School Nurse
to join our ReGeneration School network for the 2025-2026 school year. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Specialized Services and the ReGeneration administrative staff, the School Nurse will coordinate comprehensive health services for our CICS Basil. The Registered School Nurse will serve as a team member in providing preventive services, early identification of problems, interventions, and referrals to foster health and educational success. The Registered School Nurse will provide direct care to students including assessment and treatment within the scope of professional nursing practice, communication with parents, referral to physicians, and provision or supervision of prescribed nursing care. To that end, School Nurse facilitates positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning. Qualifications: Believes low-income students can become college and career ready. High expectations on personal and team performance. Demonstrate initiative and creativity. Organized and ability to multi-task. Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Experience evaluating elementary students (K-8). 1-5 years of school nurse experience in an urban setting. PEL preferred Registered Illinois Nurse Licensure REQUIRED. CPR certification required. Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution required. Responsibilities: Provide direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students and staff including nursing assessments, identifying health problems, making referrals for diagnosis and treatment, recommending educational modifications, providing follow-up and evaluation, and maintaining appropriate documentation. Recommend and provide screening and follow up for deficits in vision, hearing, and growth and development, and other physical deficits. Participate in special education team meetings to identify, evaluate and write the health component of the IEP as indicated in accordance with state and federal mandates timelines and procedures. Develop and maintain current heath care plans for students who need special nursing interventions during the school day. Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of students. Initiate contact with and act as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community. Review all existing data and determine if additional assessments are needed to evaluate the individual needs of the student. Provide health information and counseling for students, parents and staff. Administer and prepare health assessment reports based on student’s health and development status. Maintain accurate medical records to ensure compliance with state mandates. Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues. Other duties as assigned. Compensation: Competitive salary (based on education and experience) and generous benefit package.
