Join the Opening Team at Garden Hotel & Resort, Fort Lauderdale! We’re looking for energetic, customer-focused baristas to bring warmth, skill, and a touch of artistry to our brand-new coffee bar. As one of the first faces our guests will see each morning, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the elegance and hospitality of our resort. Love coffee but don’t have experience yet? Don’t worry—comprehensive on-property training will be provided to help you perfect your craft and grow with us.
Job Description The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and a variety of food items in a friendly and efficient manner. This role plays a vital part in creating a warm, welcoming experience for guests while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked café environment.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages according to established recipes and standards
Serve food items such as pastries, breakfast items, light snacks, and grab-and-go meals
Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment safely and efficiently
Provide exceptional guest service by taking orders, answering questions about menu items, and making recommendations
Handle transactions accurately using the POS system (Toast), including cash, credit cards, and room charges
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the café area, equipment, and dining areas in accordance with health and safety standards
Restock food and beverage items, condiments, utensils, and other supplies throughout the shift
Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup and breakdown of the café station
Communicate low stock or equipment issues to supervisors promptly
Communicate guest feedback to management
Promote hotel services, daily specials, and café offerings to enhance the guest experience
Must-Have Qualifications Knowledge of coffee and espresso drink preparation and basic food handling
Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
Basic math skills and POS system familiarity
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) ServSafe Food Handler certification
Previous working experience in a café, coffee shop, or food & beverage role
Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per workday)
Frequent exposure to hot beverages, food items, and kitchen equipment
Exposure to cleaning chemicals
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (e.g., supplies, equipment)

Work location: Onsite at The Garden Hotel, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Work environment: Café outlet. Exposure to hot, cold, and/or humid environments.
Working schedule: Flexibility with work hours, including weekends and holidays is essential, as scheduling will depend on business needs. This position may require evening availability. Adaptability is key in a hospitality environment
