Custodian –
Full-Time (Hourly) Reports to
Facilities Manager Schedule:
Monday–Friday, with flexibility to work weekends based on project needs Status:
Hourly Role Overview This position ensures the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facilities while supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in vocational training. The role combines hands-on maintenance with mentorship and organizational compliance.
Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance • Prepare workspaces daily (trash removal, furniture arrangement, surface cleaning) • Perform routine cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, restocking supplies • Clean windows, mirrors, and assist with meeting room setup/breakdown • Relocate
equipment/furniture
and report damages or malfunctions • Maintain grounds (grass, weeds, snow) and respond to emergency cleanups • Travel between facilities as needed Supported Employment • Train individuals with I/DD on janitorial tasks • Provide progress feedback to the Supported Employment department General Duties • Follow organizational policies and safety protocols • Maintain confidentiality and advocate for persons served • Participate in training and committee work • Supervise volunteers/interns and substitute for staff when needed Qualifications Education & Experience • High school diploma or equivalent (college may substitute up to 4 years) • One year of maintenance experience preferred Skills & Abilities • Strong English communication, math, and organizational skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Detail-oriented with interpersonal and driving skills • Capable of lifting, bending, walking, and operating lift trucks Licenses & Certifications • Valid driver’s license; minimum age 21 • DSP certification within 4 months of hire (training provided)
