The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from current college students who are interested in event coordination and seek a paid internship within the Development Department for the Spring 2026 semester (January-May). The Development Events Intern will assist the Special Events Manager with planning and executing special events and, with guidance from the Special Events Manager, lead the planning of an event. This event will be decided at the beginning of the internship and reflect the intern's interests.

Schedule This is an in-person internship at the Missouri History Museum with a limited hybrid-work option. The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week for 12 to 15 weeks, with a flexible schedule between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. The Development Events Intern will help execute and attend events, many of which take place after 6pm. The final schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

The intern's responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

Brainstorming and researching different aspects of events Assisting in writing invitations, website text, and follow-up emails Assisting in mailing invitations Creating event floorplans Contacting and maintaining correspondence with event vendors Creating event runs of show Preparing event materials such as decorations, nametags, and signage Leading the planning of an event with guidance from the Special Events Manager

Intern Qualifications: College sophomore or above in good academic standing Interest in event planning and/or fundraising Solid written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, members, and donors Experience with Microsoft Office programs Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information Ability to work independently and manage multiple timelines

Learning Objectives: Gain an understanding of best practices in event planning, particularly fundraising Strengthen organizational and interpersonal communication skills with colleagues in an office setting
