Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting providers and patients by performing administrative and clinical tasks. The MA ensures efficient patient flow, accurate medical documentation, and a high standard of patient care.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties:
Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations and procedures. Take and record vital signs, patient history, height, weight, and other information as required. Administer injections, medications, and immunizations as directed by the provider. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., blood, urine) for testing. Perform EKGs, wound care, and other basic procedures within scope of practice. Ensure patient comfort and answer routine questions. Maintain clean and sanitary exam rooms and medical equipment.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage check-in/check-out process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Obtain insurance authorizations and verify insurance eligibility as needed. Answer phone calls and relay messages to the clinical team. Follow up on test results and patient referrals. Manage inventory and order medical supplies. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented approach. Bilingual English and Spanish a Plus Schedule:
