Office Automation Assistant III
(San Diego/Coronado, CA-Onsite) to support the Department of the Navy for the readiness, safety, and effectiveness of the Navy’s surface fleet Commander’s. The Office Automation Assistant III positions provide essential administrative and data management support to the Force Safety Office, ensuring accurate entry, validation, and reporting of safety and mishap information within Navy systems. By maintaining precise records, preparing reports, and supporting safety awareness efforts, this role contributes directly to the Navy’s mission of protecting Sailors, civilians, and assets while sustaining fleet readiness. Requirements:
Enter and validate safety-related data into Navy’s Risk Management Information–Streamlined Incident Reporting (RMI-SIR) system. Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Naval Safety Program standards. Prepare recurring reports, correspondence, and safety awareness materials. Perform clerical and administrative tasks, including recordkeeping, filing, and correspondence management. Redact sensitive or non-relevant content to ensure compliance with security and confidentiality requirements. Support analytics by compiling data, identifying trends, and generating reports for Force Safety leadership. Collaborate with Navy staff and subject matter experts to validate information and ensure operational relevance. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred. Minimum of 2–3 years of clerical, administrative, or office automation experience. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to interpret and apply office procedures with independent judgment. Experience preparing recurring reports and managing sensitive correspondence. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy. Must be eligible for a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and background investigation (Tier 3). Completion of or willingness to complete mandatory DoD training: Antiterrorism Awareness (Level I), OPSEC, Cyber Awareness, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working with the Department of the Navy or DoD organizations, particularly in a safety, readiness, or data management environment. Familiarity with the Navy’s Risk Management Information–Streamlined Incident Reporting (RMI-SIR) system or similar safety/incident reporting systems. Knowledge of Navy safety directives, mishap reporting processes, or operational compliance standards. 3+ years, and familiarity with OSHA standards and experience preferred. Associates or Bachelors degree in related field preferred. DoD Secret Clearance is preferred. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time position covered under the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCLS) labor category of General Clerk III. Compensation is based on the prevailing Department of Labor Wage Determination for the San Diego/Coronado, CA locality, and includes Health & Welfare (H&W) fringe benefits in accordance with SCLS requirements.
