Construction Project Manager – Industrial

to lead and oversee complex industrial construction projects from planning to completion. This role combines strategic project management with hands-on construction oversight, requiring exceptional leadership, meticulous planning, and a steadfast commitment to safety, quality, and innovation. Key Responsibilities Team Coordination & Leadership

Lead and coordinate internal teams, customers, subcontractors, foremen, and field crews to ensure seamless communication and collaboration. Provide clear direction and support to construction managers, engineers, contractors, and on-site personnel, empowering them to excel. Deliver concise, clear, and relevant weekly project updates, highlighting issues, solutions, schedule impacts, and progress. Maintain an accurate Project Issues Log to track and resolve challenges promptly. Project Planning & Execution

Develop comprehensive project execution plans and schedules to align teams and stakeholders on objectives and deliverables. Proactively identify and mitigate project risks by developing a risk matrix tailored to project complexity. Coordinate construction activities to ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, and goals. Manage subcontracted scopes of work, including developing scope documents, gathering pricing, setting up contracts, and overseeing performance. Collaborate with the Estimating team to understand project estimates and subcontracting needs. On-Site Management

Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Supervise and direct construction managers, field crews, and subcontractors, maintaining a strong on-site presence as needed. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety, and quality. Develop and implement material laydown, staging, storage, and lift plans as needed. Project Cost & Budget Management

Track project costs accurately throughout the lifecycle, updating actual spend, committed costs, and projected spending monthly or as needed. Manage change orders, maintaining a detailed log of potential, submitted, and approved changes, ensuring schedule impacts and profit margins are communicated clearly. Maintain supporting documentation for change orders to support accounting and customer approvals. Understand project budgets to make informed decisions on material purchases, labor needs, and subcontractor requirements. Project Schedule Management

Develop and maintain detailed project schedules that meet customer needs, contractual obligations, and internal forecasting requirements. Update schedules weekly during construction, ensuring accuracy in key dates for revenue recognition and billing using tools like Procore, Smartsheet, and SiteTracker. Safety Compliance

Champion a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Ensure subcontractors meet or exceed company safety expectations and standards. Procurement

Manage procurement of major equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers, generators, batteries, CTs, PTs) and bulk materials (e.g., wire, lugs, rebar, termination kits, gravel) to ensure on-time delivery. Mitigate risks of delays by ordering equipment and materials on schedule and proactively following up with suppliers on long-lead items. Quality Assurance

Ensure all construction activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. Perform quality control checks to uphold high standards of workmanship. Promptly address and resolve any safety or quality issues to maintain project integrity. Continuous Improvement

Drive a culture of innovation by encouraging feedback and implementing process improvements. Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in industrial construction, integrating relevant advancements into project workflows. Apply lessons learned and industry best practices to optimize project delivery. Qualifications

Demonstrated success managing complex industrial construction projects, with at least 10 years of experience in construction project management or similar role. Proficiency in Procore, Smartsheet, MS Project, SiteTracker, and other project management tools. Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of managing cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and on-site personnel. Expertise in cost tracking, budgeting, change order management, and resource allocation. Knowledge of procurement processes and ability to mitigate risks associated with equipment and material delivery. Commitment to fostering a safe, innovative, and high-quality work environment.
