Nurse Practitioner
Provide quality, cost-effective, and appropriate primary medical care to the university community, primarily the student population, with an emphasis on education and prevention. This involves seeing patients in a team setting, taking thorough and pertinent medical histories, performing appropriate physical examinations, ordering necessary tests, making accurate diagnoses/assessments, and implementing appropriate plans/treatments based on the evaluations. Thorough and timely documentation of all visits in the electronic health record is expected.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Practices independently, collaborates, and refers appropriately.
- At all times abides by, and functions under, the rules and regulations of the NH Board of Nursing governing the utilization of Nurse Practitioners in NH.
- Diagnoses health and developmental problems.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacological agents.
- Develops and manages treatment regimens for acute and chronic disease.
- Obtains a physical and psychosocial history.
- Performs physical examinations.
- Assesses the health status of individuals and families.
- Initiates and interprets screening and diagnostic tests and reports results.
- Remains current on clinical issues pertinent to practicing at Health & Wellness and obtains required continuing education credits to maintain licensure and national certification.
- Educates and promotes wellness.
- Behavior and attitudes reflect the values of the organization.
- Maintains accurate, comprehensive medical records.
- Meets productivity expectations.
- Manages time and the demands of daily practice.
- Provides other functions for which the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is educationally and experientially prepared.
- Participates in peer review.
- Complies with administrative policies and procedures.
- Review and update clinical guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved training program, suitably educated and trained for clinical practice.
- Valid, unrestricted license for clinical practice in the State of New Hampshire.
- Three years of clinical Nurse Practitioner experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills, and experience using electronic health records.
- Experience/expertise in mental health, eating concerns, office procedures, musculoskeletal complaints/injuries, and occupational health.
