Job Description:
Client Financial is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team for a short-term engagement focused on infrastructure automation, cloud deployment, and platform engineering. This role involves working with OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, networking, and automation tools, ensuring seamless operations and incident resolution in a highly scalable environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in infrastructure engineering, automation, and cloud-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with Kubernetes (OpenShift - OCP) at a platform level, including upgrades and cluster creation. Implement and manage automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools. Configure and optimize AWS infrastructure components (VPC, Security Groups, EC2, Storage, Load Balancers). Manage firewalls, networking, and security configurations in a cloud environment. Utilize Calico or other Kubernetes-supported CNI solutions for networking. Support CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments. Monitor platform health, resolve incidents, and provide on-call pager support on a rotation basis (once per quarter). Lead agile ceremonies, conduct demos, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering best practices. Research and advocate for new technology adoption in automation, observability, and security-first principles.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Strong expertise with Kubernetes & OpenShift (OCP) at a platform level. Experience with AWS infrastructure (VPC, Security Groups, EC2, Storage, Load Balancers). Automation expertise using Ansible, Terraform, RH ACM, or similar tools. Strong understanding of firewalls, networking, and security configurations. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation. Familiarity with container networking (Calico, CNI solutions, or similar).
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Kubernetes Certification (CKA or CKAD) or AWS Certification. Experience with Kubernetes Operators and operator models. Scripting skills (Shell, Helm modules) or experience with Golang, Java. Understanding of secrets and credential management solutions (HashiCorp Vault or similar). Strong diagramming skills (sequence diagrams, flowcharts, etc.). Previous experience in incident resolution and platform maintenance.
