Attendance Specialist - Middle School

The job of Attendance Specialist - Middle School is done to monitor student attendance and compliance with district, state, and federal regulations, maintain attendance and discipline records, process legal documents, represent the district in attendance-related proceedings, ensure compliance with attendance policies, and work with parents to ensure appropriate student placement. Essential functions include attending district functions, compiling data, coordinating field trips, maintaining records, monitoring student attendance, preparing written materials, processing documents, representing the district in truancy matters, responding to inquiries, providing administrative support, instructing teachers on attendance policy, and performing auto-dialer functions. Reporting relationships are with the principal, program manager, or other administrators, with lead direction from the office administrator. Required knowledge includes basic math, reading manuals, writing documents, and solving practical problems. Required skills include preparing and maintaining records, operating standard office equipment, and using software applications. Required abilities include working with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, and problem-solving with data and equipment. Responsibilities include working under limited supervision, providing information, and operating within a defined budget. The working environment requires some physical demands, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under a generally hazard-free environment. Typical qualifications include high school graduation or GED equivalent, two years of secretarial or clerical work experience, a valid state driver's license, and a criminal justice fingerprint background clearance.
