Overview This is an 8-month contract opportunity based in Boston with our client, a public organization dedicated to making the city more equitable and inclusive. They focus on preserving affordable housing, supporting homeowners and renters, providing housing and services for those experiencing homelessness, and redeveloping properties. As a Data Analyst, you’ll have the opportunity to directly shape housing policy and homelessness prevention strategies. This position offers the chance to apply advanced data analysis to pressing social issues, influence program design, and deliver insights that will positively impact neighborhoods across Boston. Responsibilities Hands-On Data Analysis & Development – 60% Team & Cross-Department Collaboration – 25% Required Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, statistics, urban planning, computer science, social work, or related field (Master’s preferred) At least 2 years of professional experience in data analysis, research, or program evaluation (Master’s degree may substitute for one year) Demonstrated experience handling large datasets, including cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data Proficiency with SQL and the ability to write queries for data extraction, joins, and summarization Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Apache Superset, or R Shiny Programming knowledge in R, Python, or Stata (preferred but not required) Excellent communication skills to translate complex analysis into actionable insights Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and collaborate effectively Desired Skills & Experience Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications Prior experience with government agencies, nonprofits, or social policy organizations Background in housing policy, homelessness prevention, or related social programs What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown SQL & Relational Databases – 30% Data Visualization Tools (Tableau, Power BI, Superset, R Shiny, etc.) – 25% Programming (Python, R, Stata) – 20% Data Cleaning, Transformation & Analysis – 15% Collaboration, Reporting, & Communication – 10% Daily Responsibilities Hands-On Data Analysis & Development – 60% Team & Cross-Department Collaboration – 25% Posted By: Sarah Carroll #J-18808-Ljbffr
