QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess a Master or advanced degree in Social Work
  2. Arizona State Department of Education School Social Worker Certification
  3. Experience in multicultural-multilingual school setting is preferred
  4. Knowledge of community resources within the district boundaries is preferred
  5. Social Work experience is preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates preventative and intervention services.
  • Keeps sufficient records of cases in compliance with FERPA and state requirements for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate.
  • Provides social work case management to students and families within the context of cultural understanding and competence.
  • Consults with parents and other stakeholders to increase access to appropriate resources and services available to minimize risk factors.
  • Identifies and mobilizes a continuum of resources to meet the school community's needs
  • Serves as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary with community agencies.
  • Makes home visits, in consultation with site administrators, to extend support to students and families
  • Fosters and maintains positive work relations with community partners.
  • Serves as liaison with such outside agencies as DCS and Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department as it relates to mandatory reporting and ISD's district truancy diversion program (C.U.T.S.)
  • Maintains working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pursuant to serving children experiencing homelessness and foster care placements to maximize educational rights.
  • Conducts multi-tiered school needs assessment for individual students, groups of students, and school-wide support to improve the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes of students.
  • Assists students directly toward adjustment to school including, but not limited to, small group counseling, one-to-one support, and classroom visits.
  • Provides programs and direct services that foster social and emotional competence.
  • Provides support when responding to self-harm, crisis and threat assessment procedures.
  • Participates in monthly School Safety Assessment Prevention Team meetings and other team meetings or committees.
  • Adheres to the NASW Code of Ethics and SSWAA ethical guidelines
  • Advocates for policies, programs, and services that respect diversity, address individual needs, and support the inherent dignity and worth of all students, families, and school personnel
  • Other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Certified Salary Schedule
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 mos.
