Surgical Technologist Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Surgical Technologist to join our LDRP team in women's services. This is a Part Time-night shift position in Charlottesville, VA. Hours: 24 hours per week, 2 twelve-hour shifts. Every third weekend rotation. Call Requirement: Self-scheduled 24 hours in 6 weeks. Must be within 30 minutes of the facility for on call requirements. On call rooms available. For candidates with Operating Room experience, the department will train for OB. Training can take between 8 and 12 weeks. Sentara Martha Jefferson's Women's Health includes L&D, and a 24 bed post-partum mother/baby. Our Level 2 newborn specialty care nursery has a 1 to 1 ratio while our intermediate care babies have a 1 to 3 nursing ratio. Our LDRP unit also offers post operative care for complex GYN and Breast surgical needs. This specialty area has a 100-member team has cross trained to offer best in class healthcare to Charlottesville, VA and surrounding areas. We boast an NTSV CS rate of 18%, the lowest in the Sentara system and an exclusive breastfeeding rate of 85%, the highest in the Sentara system. We are growing, with a new Sentara OBGYN practice opened in downtown Charlottesville fall 2023. A Surgical Technologist is a critical member of the surgical team who assists during operative procedures by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and providing direct assistance to surgeons and nurses. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols. Will assist in newborn testing, function as surgical technician during operating room procedure, newborn procedure and post labor surgical repairs Education: Trade School Graduate of Surgical Technology Certification/Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist Licensed in the state BLS required Experience: 1 year of Operating Room experience preferred Labor and Delivery experience preferred Strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
