Student IT Assistant
The Student IT Assistant supports the University Libraries' IT team in delivering high-quality technical support and services across the Columbus campus libraries. This role involves assisting with helpdesk operations, asset deployment and management, classroom and event audiovisual (AV) support, and basic IT security tasks. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong interest in technology and a commitment to excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities
Provide Tier 1 technical support to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, and in-person. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues. Log and track support tickets using the HUB service management system Escalate complex issues to full-time IT staff as needed. Assist with the setup, configuration, imaging, and deployment of computers, printers, and other IT equipment. Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT assets. Maintain accurate inventory records of hardware and software assets. Support lifecycle management, including equipment check-in/check-out and decommissioning. Set up and test AV equipment for library events. Provide on-site technical support during events or classes. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving AV issues in real-time. Maintain and organize AV equipment inventory. Assist with basic cybersecurity tasks such as patching, monitoring alerts, and updating software as needed. Support physical security of IT assets (e.g., cable locks, secure storage). Help ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures. Qualifications
Currently enrolled as a student at The Ohio State University Columbus Campus Able to pass a background check Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking. Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and O365 Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Ability to lift and move 50 lbs Positive Attitude and Attention to Detail Location
