Electrical Technician - GTP

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking an Electrical Technician to join the Operations & Maintenance team for the new Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations. Initially, the Electrical Technician will serve as SME for the project phase. They will assist the project through collaborating with contractors, participating in PHAs, supporting MICE classification, drawing review, etc. Following start-up, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations. Responsibilities

Comply with all health, safety and environmental practices and policies Remove and install electrical related equipment up to 138kv Installs electrical equipment (examples include but are not limited to conduit, wires, support, and related equipment) Troubleshooting and repair electrical equipment Perform preventive maintenance on 480/4160 volt motor starters, motors up to 23,000 H.P., UPS systems/ batteries, A.C. and D.C. variable speed drive controllers and electrical motors Required Qualifications

Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology OR High School Diploma and one of the following: -Level II NETA or higher or equivalent certification -Journeyman Electrician License At least 5 years of medium to high voltage experience in an industrial or heavy commercial setting Knowledge of how to program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g. Triconex, Allen Bradley, Modicon) Able to diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults Experience with motor starter/switch gear troubleshooting for AC and DC systems Knowledge of programming and troubleshooting VFDs. Experience using all types of electrical test equipment Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with ladder logic and controls. Experience in the development and completion of multiple significant programs and control schemes. Familiarity with industrial process engineering and controls Knowledge of protective relay function, data download, troubleshooting, and alarm (first out) diagnosis Experience with the checkout of instrument control loops in existing plants or plant expansions and works with contractors to ensure proper installation Experience with assisting the Control Systems Specialists and I/E engineers with design and implementation of projects Use of specialized electrical test equipment (e.g. low resistance ohm detector and PDMA test set) Chevron Phillips Chemical offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package and at most locations, alternate work schedules.
