Overview

Philanthropy Manager role at Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL). This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. All library administrative staff may be required to work evenings, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year as part of the normal work schedule. BCPL circulates over 10 million items and provides library services through 19 branches, 4 mobile library vehicles, and an extensive outreach network. Under the direction of the Chief External Affairs Officer, the Philanthropy Manager leads the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support BCPLs programs, services and capital initiatives. This role supervises the Philanthropy Department and manages all of its activities, including oversight of the Foundation for BCPL. The Manager cultivates donor and prospect relationships, collaborates with library leadership and ensures philanthropic alignment with the Librarys strategic goals. The Manager serves as the Executive Director of Foundation for BCPL, an affiliated 501c3 non-profit organization. Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and oversee implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with BCPLs Strategic Plan. Lead diverse fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major and planned gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants and special events. Set departmental goals, performance benchmarks and budgets; evaluate fundraising effectiveness. Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management: Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects; identify, qualify and cultivate new donors. Directly solicit major gifts; partner with senior staff and volunteers in donor engagement. Oversee the identification and research of prospective donors, leveraging outside databases and vendors as needed. Manage the tracking of current and prospective donor activity by maintaining regular reports that accurately reflect progress toward building relationships and increasing donor support. Ensure a high-quality donor experience through timely communications, proposals and acknowledgement. Communications and Donor Engagement: Oversee development of donor-facing materials, including the Foundations Annual Report, brochures, newsletters and social media as well as appeal and acknowledgement letters. Represent BCPL in the community and build relationships through high-level participation in events. Liaise with Friends of the Library groups across the library system. Promote a culture of philanthropy across the library system; trains staff and volunteers in fundraising best practices. Grants and Program Support: Collaborate with library leadership to identify funding opportunities for programs and services. Oversee grant proposal development to outside funders and alignment with strategic priorities. Manage grant application, review and implementation process for grants from the Foundation to BCPL.
