Senior Cloud Engineer

Deliver simple solutions to complex problems as a Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer at GDIT. You'll design, build, and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure to securely host healthcare applications and data, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and mission-critical operational requirements. This role sits on a platform engineering team responsible for cloud migration, application integration, and infrastructure automation in a FedRAMP ATO environment. This role is fully remote! This role has a targeted start date towards the end of 2025/early 2026. Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Azure infrastructure for healthcare applications, data systems, and analytics workloads. Deploy and configure Azure services in compliance with FedRAMP Moderate/High, HIPAA, and FISMA requirements. Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to integrate applications, APIs, and data workflows into Azure environments. Implement monitoring, logging, backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related services. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. Optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of cloud resources. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and networking issues to ensure system uptime. Contribute to security hardening by integrating Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and Defender for Endpoint. Maintain technical documentation for architectures, deployments, and operational procedures. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, administration, or operations, preferably in a federal healthcare environment Hands-on expertise with Azure IaaS, PaaS, and networking services Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and DevOps automation (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar) Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, HIPAA, FISMA) Proficiency in scripting/automation languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash) Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with health data interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7). Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and Defender for Endpoint. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert Additional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, Security+) a plus Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
