Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Co-Controller to join our accounting team. The Co-Controller will report to the CFO and play a key role in managing the financial operations of our company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the overall financial health of the organization. This position will work closely with the CFO and other senior management to support strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.
- Manage budget preparation and review budget vs. actual performance.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures.
- Provide support to project managers and operations team on financial matters related to construction projects.
- Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Participate in the development of the company's strategic plans.
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with construction accounting software is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
