GEO Next Generation Academy (K-12) - Indianapolis is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins 21st Century Charter at Gary, Gary Middle College in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Indiana. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves grades K-12. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. WE are a TAP school!
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of all students
- Create a safe and nurturing learning environment for young children
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and classroom activities
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive and supportive school community
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- State of Indiana teaching certification (Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner license only. Substitute license not accepted)
- Experience working with young children in a classroom setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
- Passion for working with young children and helping them reach their full potential
