FMM is seeking a motivated professional to fill our Electrical Technician position. FMM is a maintenance and construction company servicing both residential and commercial clients nationwide.
Job type: Contract position lasting approximately 4 months in Lubbock, TX with the possibility of a travel position after job completion.

Essential Job Duties
- Must possess the ability to plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Place conduit and pipes, in walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Perform electrical inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Install and connect wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures.
- Test electrical systems for functionality and safety.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
- Pre-job and Pre-task Planning; identify safety hazards and ensure appropriate precautions.
- Inspect tools and equipment before each use to ensure good working conditions; comply with site safety rules and PPE requirements.
Required Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent apprenticeship.
- Must adhere to safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the trade, with knowledge of the craft being performed.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and client and company policy.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions using FMM's core values: Quality, Teamwork, Pride, Passion, Integrity.
- Proficient in computer, text, and email skills; proficient in using power tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC); experience with high and low voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles; ability to build and install electrical systems in commercial and residential settings.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of frame carpentry for installation purposes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pass a Fit for Duty Screening.
- Work in all weather conditions; high noise environment; exposure to moving mechanical parts and construction machinery.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; repetitive use of hands/arms; good hand/eye coordination; hearing and comprehension required for directions.
- Work may involve climbing, bending, twisting, walking, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching overhead, and operating hand and power tools.
Mental Requirements
- Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a state of alertness and safety.
- Effective communication with management and supervision; reading and writing comprehension for directions and safety policies; math calculations.
- Ability to work at various tempos and concentrate amid distractions; detail-oriented with strong observation skills.
