Position summary: Provide guests with coffee and other coffee drinks; the Barista will sell items such as pastries, yogurts, fruit cups, and smoothies. This role requires consistent adherence to the department policies and procedures outlined in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOPs).
Responsibilities
- Maintain positive guest relationships to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.
- Offer guests the highest levels of service and product knowledge.
- Maintain bar pars accurately at all times.
- Provide professionalism and enthusiasm toward guests and co-workers.
- Prepare coffee drinks (coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, iced coffees) and ensure consistency with correct temperature.
- Sell pastries, yogurts, smoothies, and fruit cups to guests.
- Stock the shop with cups, lids, napkins, cutlery, coffee beans, espresso pods, jellies, honey, milk, and cream.
- Set up the coffee shop following all Biltmore standards.
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the workplace.
- Keep the bar and floors clean at all times.
- Generate checks using the point-of-sale system.
- Receive and process payments (credit cards, room charges, member accounts, cash).
- Break down coffee shop setup, clean milk containers, and store supplies after shifts.
- Restock items used during the shift.
- Complete paperwork, tip reports, and cash drops.
- Declare earned gratuities in accordance with current governmental requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum one year of restaurant experience required.
- Skills: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; perform accurate mathematical calculations; communicate legibly; work with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize and organize; think clearly and resolve problems with good judgment; follow directions; understand guest service needs; work cohesively with others; work with minimal supervision; maintain guest information confidentiality; use a computer keyboard with basic typing skills; possess moderate to advanced computer skills; adapt to a dynamic environment; multitask effectively.
Physical Demands
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during a shift.
- Reach above/below, bend, twist, and stoop as needed.
- Use and operate office equipment; communicate with colleagues and guests.
- Work in indoor hotel environment with variable temperatures.
