Summary:

The Business Analyst partners with business units and technical teams to understand business problems, gather requirements, and deliver effective solutions. This role involves analyzing processes, documenting requirements, supporting design considerations, and ensuring successful implementation of solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in requirement gathering, and the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Collaborate with business units to understand business problems, processes, and objectives to drive effective solutions.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed functional specifications.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including design considerations and requirements.
  • Develop high-level and detailed requirements, ensuring clarity for development teams.
  • Prepare flow diagrams (using tools like Visio or Lucidchart) to illustrate solutions for business stakeholders.
  • Share solution requirements with business teams and ensure alignment.
  • Support testing activities, including writing test cases and assisting QA teams as needed.
  • Document and manage user stories in JIRA.
  • Capture non-functional requirements such as compliance, security, access, and controls.
  • Act as a critical thinker to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
  • Suggest testing strategies, including performance and penetration testing, when applicable.
  • Understand interconnections between different aspects of a problem to provide holistic solutions.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to recommend and support implementation of technical solutions.
  • Understanding of compliance and security requirements in solution design.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 8-10 years in the software industry, with at least 5 years as a Business Analyst.
  • Hands-on experience in requirement gathering and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of applications and solution design aspects.
  • Ability to write clear, concise requirements and user stories.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience in financial or mortgage industry is a plus (not mandatory).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support QA and testing processes when required.
