*Memorial Funeral Homes* in *Newport and Portsmouth, RI *is hiring a *Licensed Funeral Director* to join our professional and dedicated team. Our Family-Owned funeral home is growing, and we’re looking for an energetic, positive, and compassionate *Funeral Director/Embalmer* to join our innovative firm. We are looking for someone to become an important part of our professional group. Qualified applicants must possess strong attention to detail and organization. They must be a team player and have the ability to multi-task and take initiative. *Qualifications:*
- Graduated from an accredited mortuary school or college of mortuary science
- Have a Rhode Island Funeral Directors License or reciprocal ability.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company vehicles.
- Great communication etiquette and interpersonal skills – ability to work in a team.
- Proficient with administrative procedures and technology
- Have impeccable attention to detail and a high sense of urgency in task fulfilment.
- Knowledge, understanding and ability to provide equitable service to different socio-economic groups, religions and faiths and other differing backgrounds.
- Possess a positive attitude and tactful and professional demeanor when dealing with clients and guests.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
*Funeral Director Responsibilities:*
- Our licensed funeral directors are expected to have the ability to handle all arrangement tasks, yet we also collaborate with the non-licensed team for most arrangement tasks, including:
- Family Arrangements: Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements, listening to their situation and needs to understand their preferences, and provide professional guidance on available service options and pricing.
- Direction of Services: Arrange, coordinate, and lead a team of staff to fulfill the funeral services, viewings, cremations, life celebrations and burials.
- Transportation Arrangements: Share the on-call schedule overnight to coordinate the transportation of the deceased, typically do not have to make night transfers.
- Support & Follow Up Services: Offer emotional support and guidance to grieving families, working with other members of the team to provide resources for grief counseling and other support services.
- Documentation and Compliance: Prepare and file all necessary legal documents, including death certificates and permits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Active participation in team meetings and ensuring all staff are informed and prepared for each day’s services.
