Expedite and deliver food orders to tables in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner; communicate with the kitchen regarding orders and special requests. Maintain complete knowledge of department policies, service procedures, and standards; use equipment only as needed and maintain its proper operation. Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, acknowledge guests, and maintain positive guest relations at all times. Be familiar with hotel services/features and local attractions to respond accurately to guest inquiries. Resolve guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction; monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas. Maintain knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation methods, ingredients, quality standards, serving temperature, garnish, and presentation; know daily specials and the 86 list. Know table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, and proper table setups and dress code; be familiar with liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic selections, glassware, and garnishes. Maintain knowledge of wines and champagnes by the glass and other major wines on the list; strictly abide by state liquor regulations. Complete opening side duties: check station assignments, inspect stock and supplies, set up condiments, ensure sufficient silverware and chinaware, restock items, attend pre-meal meetings, and prepare food trays for delivery. Deliver food orders to tables and serve guests within hotel standards; verify with servers that orders and special requests are correct. Prepare coffee, serve all courses promptly and courteously, and coordinate with kitchen to ensure optimum service. Clear courses, remove soiled wares, and invite guests to return; serve coffee, tea, and other designated non-alcoholic beverages; reset tables as needed. Complete closing duties: manage kitchen hot and cold lines, breakdown and store reusable goods, clean equipment, wipe down stations, restock condiments, lock refrigerators, and prepare for next service. Inform manager of any supply or equipment shortages and communicate issues or delays with the kitchen; secure all supplies at the end of shift. Perform all other duties as required or assigned. Minimum one (1) year experience as a Restaurant Server/Expediter/Food Runner Minimum 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the essential functions Licenses/Certifications
Liquor Commission Card and certification from an alcohol awareness program required to serve alcoholic beverages; must be of legal age in the County of Honolulu Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests Familiar with hotel services/features to respond to guest inquiries accurately Maintain positive guest relations at all times Well organized with the ability to expeditely manage orders for up to 20 tables Suggestively sell restaurant menu items, beverages, and wine Maintain coordination to serve orders quickly Physical Demands
Ability to transport food and beverages (approximately 15-45 lbs) to and from the kitchen Carry/lift up to 50 lbs Stand/walk for up to 8 hours; reach up to 6 feet; stationary position for 0.5 to 1 hour as needed Able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays; long shifts of 8-9 hours Work Environment
