Description Leidos Engineering is looking for a talented

Electric Distribution Designer

to join our dynamic team. You will be instrumental in developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems utilizing various software and industry standards. Our distribution systems operate in Overhead (OH), Underground (UG), and Underground Residential Distribution (URD) environments. Your project responsibilities will involve joint use make-ready tasks and street light projects. You will leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems to develop comprehensive work packages. Additionally, you will perform engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Your assignments will also encompass preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, creating Bill of Materials (BOM), estimating costs, and advocating for customers by acquiring easements or calculating a customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC). As an Electric Distribution Designer, you can expect to: Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems, typically operating from 4kV through 138kV. Most projects will support programmatic work including overloaded transformers, inspections and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports. Ensure compliance with quality control and safe work practices while adhering to the project's scope, schedule, and budget. What we need from you: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience with a utility performing design work. Familiarity with Pole Loading software (such as O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman) and SAP. Strong communication skills to interact with clients and project teams effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Experience in medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion, and distribution automation projects. Experience with developing civil and electrical packages in complex urban environments. You might also have experience with: Software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is advantageous. $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 This pay range serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation. Final offers will consider various factors, including job responsibilities, education, experience, and industry standards.
