Job Description The Director of US Commercial Advanced Analytics (within Gilead’s Liver Integrated Insights team) will be responsible for leading insight generation and strategic thought partnership for multiple brands in the Liver franchise. This high-impact individual contributor role will do so by managing projects of significant complexity requiring cross functional collaboration. The role will also participate in shaping the roadmap for the US Advanced Analytics function across business units. This role requires leveraging a broad and deep skill set (functional expertise, therapeutic area knowledge, communication skills, leadership and influencing, executive presence, etc.) to help drive success across a variety of key stakeholders – including VP, Business Unit Executive Leaders, Brand Marketing, US Market Access, Field Sales, Commercial Operations, Finance, Medical, and Global. This role is based in Foster City, California. Key responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Brand Performance Tracking Lead development of data-based insights to inform brand, franchise, and business unit strategy and execution. Lead performance/KPI development and reporting, including best practice sharing across TAs, enabling a thorough understanding of brand performance and opportunities based on a variety of inputs Collaborate with brand marketing leadership to establish an annual business analytics plan by brand Leverage data and analytics to develop key insights to inform each brand’s strategy through the Brand Plan of Action (BPOA) process Conduct analytics projects to inform a range of business issues, including MD and patient segmentation, customer journey and treatment flow analytics, sampling strategy and analytics, etc. Performance reporting and diagnostics, including design and implementation of HQ-facing dashboards and reports Evaluate potential new secondary data sources and analytics methodologies to continually elevate the impact of business analytics Actionable Insights Lead the integration of insight and analysis from a variety of sources to inform material decisions through the delivery of robust opportunities and market context. Consolidates a variety of data and information into actionable brand opportunities. Provide objective quantitative analyses and lead the development of business cases to determine key opportunities and address critical business issues for the brand and/or TA Collaborate within the department to ensure business analytics context is integrated into Tactic Measurement and Marketing Mix work, to ensure business analytics insights are available to inform Forecasting, and to identify opportunities to integrate new capabilities from the AI/Predictive Analytics Lab Stakeholder Management Interact with a broad range of internal customers ranging from VP, executive directors of brand, marketing team, and IT. Establish and maintain business relationships in key segments of the Commercial organization, and consistently demonstrate a thorough understanding of internal customers’ business needs. Viewed as a cross-functional subject matter expert and sought for advice on decisions that can impact business operations. Lead and conduct quarterly functional review with key VP, Senior Directors, and stakeholders on business unit and domain area to share insights and analysis on relevant business, brand, and market issues Demonstrate strong evidence of project leadership and project management (planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, and plan execution) Management and relationship development with key stakeholder groups in Marketing and Commercial operations. Management of external consulting resources from a project delivery perspective. Advanced Analytics Identify business challenges and use cases to drive value through non-traditional analytical approaches. Drive innovation in the use of AI and predictive analytics techniques to improve efficiency and effectiveness of US Commercial strategy and operations, coordinating across all Commercial Operations teams. Collaborate with business unit and brand marketing leadership as well as peer Commercial Operations teams to identify business use cases for AI and new analytics approaches (e.g., next best action, dynamic targeting, patient journey prediction, local marketing mix optimization, integrated multi-channel marketing, personalized training) Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 12 years of relevant analytical experience managing projects and high-visibility initiatives. MBA/Masters degree preferred with concentration in one or more of: healthcare, general management, analytics, data sciences. Pharmaceutical or consumer Insight experience highly desirable Demonstrated ability to pull together insights from a variety of sources and develop strategic guidance for brand teams that result in a business decision or action Strong business and marketing acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consultative background preferred Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills; ability to gain consensus and act within a matrix team environment; ability to work in a collaborative and influencing fashion that drives business action Proven history of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities Experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IMS, Symphony Health) is required Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g. MS Suite, Tableau, Databricks, etc.) is required.
