Resilience Architect - Infrastructure Backup and Disaster Recovery Location: NJ/NYC Preference (hybrid/remote) | Duration: 12+ months We are seeking an experienced hands-on Resilience Architect to join our enterprise risk management team in designing, implementing, and maintaining critical business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities. This role operates within Canada's highly regulated banking environment, ensuring compliance with OSFI guidelines, PIPEDA requirements, and other federal financial regulations while maintaining operational excellence across all business lines. Key Responsibilities

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Architecture Design and implement comprehensive cross-platform backup policies that align with regulatory requirements including OSFI's Technology and Cyber Security Risk Management guidelines Develop enterprise-wide workflow architectures for critical business processes, ensuring seamless failover capabilities and minimal service disruption Establish and maintain robust recoverability validation processes with defined RTO/RPO metrics that meet regulatory expectations and business requirements Lead the design of resilient infrastructure spanning on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments while maintaining data sovereignty compliance Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure all resilience frameworks comply with Canadian banking regulations including the Bank Act, OSFI guidelines, and FINTRAC requirements Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to maintain adherence to privacy legislation (PIPEDA, provincial privacy acts) in backup and recovery processes Support regulatory examinations and audits by providing comprehensive documentation of resilience capabilities and testing results Maintain current knowledge of evolving regulatory landscape and proactively adapt resilience strategies Technology Integration & Innovation Architect resilient solutions across diverse technology stacks including core banking systems, trading platforms, and customer-facing applications Evaluate and implement emerging technologies for backup, replication, and recovery while ensuring regulatory compliance Lead vendor assessment and management for resilience-related technologies, ensuring appropriate due diligence and contractual protections Design automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify resilience gaps or failures Develop comprehensive testing methodologies for backup integrity, recovery procedures, and business continuity plans Establish regular cadence of recovery testing across all critical systems with documented results and improvement recommendations Lead organization-wide disaster recovery exercises simulating various disruption scenarios including cyber incidents, natural disasters, and operational failures Maintain detailed recovery playbooks and ensure regular updates based on testing outcomes and environmental changes Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Partner with Business Units, IT Operations, Information Security, and Third-Party Risk Management teams to ensure integrated resilience approach Provide technical guidance and best practices to development teams for building resilient applications and services Communicate complex technical resilience concepts to non-technical stakeholders including senior executives and board committees Lead incident response activities during major disruptions, coordinating recovery efforts and stakeholder communications Experience & Technical Skills

Experience Requirements Minimum 8-10 years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, or enterprise architecture roles Demonstrated experience in highly regulated industries, preferably financial services Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale resilience solutions in complex enterprise environments Experience with regulatory examinations and audit processes in Canadian banking environment Technical Expertise Deep knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery technologies (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup, etc.) Expertise in cloud resilience architectures and multi-cloud disaster recovery strategies Strong understanding of database recovery technologies for Oracle, SQL Server, and distributed database systems Experience with infrastructure as code, automation tools, and DevOps practices for resilience Regulatory & Risk Knowledge Comprehensive understanding of Canadian banking regulations and OSFI supervisory expectations Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks (Basel III, SOX, GDPR) and their impact on resilience requirements Experience with risk assessment methodologies and business impact analysis processes Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and their integration with business continuity planning Strategic thinking with ability to translate business requirements into technical resilience solutions Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail Exceptional communication and presentation skills for diverse stakeholder audiences Ability to work effectively under pressure during crisis situations and incident response Leadership experience with cross-functional teams and external vendor relationships Seniority & Employment
