6 month contract. Remote in US only, EST or CST states. W2 hourly rate: $65-75/hr. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Data Modeling Leadership - Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using Erwin Data Modeler to support enterprise data initiatives. Business Analysis - Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate data requirements, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions. Data Product Ownership - Manage assigned data domains throughout their lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, quality, and governance compliance. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Act as the primary liaison between BI and Data Engineering teams to align semantic layers, models, and reporting structures. Standards & Governance - Enforce data modeling and architecture standards, naming conventions, and best practices across all initiatives. Requirement Translation - Translate analytical and operational requirements into technical specifications, supporting both self-service BI and enterprise data warehouse projects. Metadata & Data Lineage - Partner with Data Governance to maintain metadata repositories, lineage documentation, and business glossaries. Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. 8+ years of experience as a Data Modeler or in a related enterprise data role. Proficiency with Erwin Data Modeler. Strong expertise in relational and Kimball dimensional modeling techniques. Experience designing and maintaining Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs). Strong SQL development skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets. Experience working with Azure and other modern cloud-based data platforms. REQUIRED
Platforms: Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric (exposure preferred). Tools: Erwin Data Modeler, SQL. Data Architecture: Relational modeling, dimensional modeling, ERDs, semantic layer design. Concepts: Metadata management, data lineage, governance, and observability frameworks. Collaboration: Experience bridging BI, data engineering, and business stakeholders. PREFERRED
Familiarity with Data Vault 2.0 concepts. Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and Databricks. Experience with Wherescape, DBT, or streaming tools (e.g., Striim). Background in AI/ML data preparation workflows. Determining compensation for this role and others at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The salary range is noted in this posting as required by local law in geographies that require disclosure.
