Grants Administrator 2
level, depending on the applicant's qualifications and job experience. This position is exempt from the hiring freeze. What you will be doing
In the Grants Administrator 1/2 Flex role, you will manage grants that support vital health programs across Alaska. You should have strong writing, critical thinking, and communication skills, and a commitment to public engagement. You will work with a variety of organizations to develop, manage, and award grants, with opportunities to take on more challenging projects and advance in rank and pay after training and experience are gained. The Department of Healths mission is to promote and protect the health and well-being of Alaskans. The Grants & Procurement Section solicits, evaluates, and awards health-related grant programs statewide to support timely and responsive healthcare services. Qualifications and competencies
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate competencies in the following areas (examples provided below are not exhaustive): Problem Solving : Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternatives; makes recommendations. Oral and Written Communication : Expresses information effectively; presents clearly; listens and responds appropriately. Accounting , knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods. Analysis and Assessment , uses information technology to access, collect, analyze, maintain, and disseminate data. Attention to Detail , thorough and conscientious in work. Interpersonal Skills , treats others with courtesy and respect; adapts to diverse needs. Reasoning , identifies rules and relations, analyzes information, and draws conclusions. Grants Management , knowledge of requirements, practices, and procedures for soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and administering grants/agreements. Technical Competence , applies formal training and on-the-job experience to perform the job and advise others on technical issues.
Education and experience
are evaluated to determine minimum competencies. Typical qualifications include combinations of post-secondary education and/or experience in accounting, grants administration, budget administration, procurement, professional services contracts, and administrative support. Additional information Flexibly staffed : This vacancy may be filled at the 1 or 2 level. Starting salary depends on the level. Promotion to the higher level is contingent on successful completion of probation and required training. Residency : This position is open to Alaskan residents only. Application requirements : Provide three professional references (one from current or most recent supervisor), unofficial transcripts, a technical writing sample, and complete supplemental questions as part of the application process. Work environment : Training includes 1:1 time with a Grant Administrator 3 and other team leaders; use of internal grant management software (GEMS); collaboration with grantees and program managers; and regular communication via telephone, email, Microsoft Teams, or in person.
