Overview
Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (Cardiac Diagnostics - Virginia Heart) is looking for a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join the team. This role is Full-Time Day Shift from Monday – Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.
Responsibilities
Explains procedures to patients and families and answers questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and sterile techniques. Demonstrates proper technique for injection of radiopharmaceuticals under American College of Radiology guidelines.
Recognizes clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them to achieve optimal outcomes.
Accurately identifies patients and their files using electronic medical records and picture archiving/communication systems.
Applies radiation protection procedures with shielding and protective devices, maintaining exposure readings within ALARA limits.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm; may float to four Virginia Heart locations.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Licensure: NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within one year of hire.
Certification: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
Experience: Hospital/healthcare setting experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist or student.
