Enterprise GIS Administrator

with extensive experience in both GIS database and infrastructure administration. The successful candidate will join the Geospatial Technology Services Team (GTS), working closely with the Network, Systems & Security (NSS) team, conducting day-to-day full-stack administration of ArcGIS Enterprise, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server (Federated and Standalone), ArcGIS Data Store, Web Adaptors, SQL Server, and various integrations with non-geospatial business systems. This position requires communicating highly technical concepts to a wide range of users. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint; however, the City may go higher based on experience, internal equity and market considerations. Join our award-winning team! The first review of applications will be September 5, 2025 and rolling review thereafter. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

GIS Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, maintain and support GIS software and hardware (e.g., ArcGIS Server, Portal). Manage user accounts, access controls, and security protocols. Perform system backups and disaster recovery procedures. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues. Plan and lead system upgrades. Geospatial Data Management: Coordinate with internal teams on data acquisition, processing, and integration. Define data ownership and access rights. Collaborate with Data Analytics on GIS data management. GIS Application Development: Partner with GIS team and developers on design and development of custom GIS applications and tools. Integrate GIS data with other enterprise systems for seamless data flow. Serve as a technical advisor for GIS infrastructure. Collaboration and Communication: Work with stakeholders across departments to understand GIS needs. Communicate capabilities and limitations of GIS technology. Document procedures and maintain clear technical documentation.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Extensive knowledge and administrative experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise (Server, Portal, Web Adaptors, Data stores). Proficiency in scripting utilizing Python, and Windows standard programming languages. Management of SDE enterprise geodatabases, including maintenance and troubleshooting, versioning and replication. Knowledge of SQL Server administration and T-SQL programming. Ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Windows Server setup and administration following industry best practices. Working knowledge of network configurations and administration. Experience documenting new and existing processes and updating documentation.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical qualification path is graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in operation and management of Esri software solutions. Esri Admin Enterprise certification preferred. May require professional and/or technical certifications. Ability to pass security clearances and background investigations, including financial background checks and Washington State Patrol criminal background checks.
