Overview

The CVRM Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader leads and drives the delivery of Roche/Genentech PDGs Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism (CVRM) portfolio. This senior leadership role has accountability for clinical operations strategy and execution, and enterprise collaboration to advance the portfolio and deliver meaningful medicines. PDG conducts global clinical trials, analyzes results, monitors safety, and collaborates with regulatory authorities to bring differentiated medicines to patients. Primary therapeutic focus areas include Oncology, Hematology, Neurology, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism. Development centers are located in Basel (Switzerland); South San Francisco (USA); Welwyn Garden City (UK); Mississauga (Canada); and Shanghai (China), with operations in many other countries. Responsibilities

Develop and evolve the CVRM portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment with the Clinical Development Plan and the One Pharma Strategy. Provide oversight and risk management for asset and study delivery; monitor portfolio status, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans to enable seamless trial execution. Drive strategic stakeholder alignment and collaboration among PDG, APO, COEs, early and late-stage development teams, and enterprise leaders; provide operational leadership to influence decisions and optimize portfolio delivery. Lead operational innovation by leveraging analytics, portfolio optimization, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, budget management, and probability of technical success (PTS). Represent PDG in CVRM at the enterprise level, building collaborative relationships with Roche leaders, health authorities, patient advocacy groups, and vendors. Lead and develop a matrixed organization of approximately 150 employees, including 1012 direct reports; foster a culture of collaboration, high performance, inclusion, and belonging. Represent CVRM as a member of the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team and contribute to enterprise goals in service of patients, investigative sites, and Roche. Drive engagement and growth through performance feedback, coaching, and development planning; manage administrative responsibilities (e.g., Workday tasks) to ensure effective team operations. Who you are

15+ years of pharmaceutical clinical operations experience with at least 10 years in global clinical operations strategy leadership; additional commercial or relevant experience considered an asset. Strong knowledge of Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolic disease trends and large endpoint-driven trials. Comprehensive understanding of global pharma clinical development in international settings. Proven success in strategy development and execution using analytics, data-driven decision-making, and expanding access to underserved populations while meeting ambitious goals. Experience managing large, matrixed organizations, leading direct reports, recruiting and developing teams, and fostering cross-functional collaboration and trust. Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset. Willingness to travel nationally or internationally as required. This position can be located at Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, USA; Welwyn, UK; or Mississauga, Canada. Ongoing and sustained campus presence at the site is expected in compliance with local requirements. Relocation benefits are available. The expected salary range based on California location is $227,600 $422,600. Pay is determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors.
