Iowa Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant with orthopedic surgery experience to provide locum tenens coverage supporting their orthopedic surgery team. This is a full-scope orthopedic surgery role that includes clinical, surgical, inpatient rounding, and trauma call responsibilities.

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
Weeknight call duties
24-hour weekend call
Provide inpatient rounding on post-operative orthopedic surgery patients
Manage inpatient and emergency department orthopedic consults
Assist in the operating room for orthopedic surgeries
Clinical and surgical management including trauma and fracture care
Participate in outpatient clinic visits (appointment length minutes)
Collaborate with nursing, surgery schedulers, and ancillary staff
Total joint replacements: hip, knee, shoulder
Surgical procedures on hand, wrist, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and foot
Management of trauma injuries, fractures, and sports medicine cases
EMR systems: GE Centricity (clinic), Epic (hospital)
Average hospital census approximately 160 patients daily
Teaching opportunities with Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residencies, and PA student rotations
Support staff includes nursing, cast techs, reception, and surgery schedulers
Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery
Active Iowa medical license or Compact/IMLC LOQ license required
Clean malpractice history
Able to provide updated CV and list of available coverage dates at time of submission
