Key Responsibilities: Setup, program, and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision plastic components per print and job specs. Perform frequent machine changeovers efficiently due to the low-volume nature of the work. Make adjustments to cutting tools, speeds, and feeds. Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to inspect parts and ensure tight tolerances are met. Work with Programming to troubleshoot machining issues related to plastic properties, such as melting, warping, or surface finish defects. Maintain detailed setup sheets, program files, and inspection records for repeatability. Support continuous improvement initiatives in machining processes, tooling, and fixture design. Perform routine machine maintenance and cleanliness to ensure equipment reliability. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of CNC milling experience, preferably in a job shop or plastic machining environment. Deep understanding of machining plastics—including material behavior, fixturing considerations, and chip control. Ability to work independently on short-run or prototype work with minimal supervision. Solid knowledge of cutting tool selection and tool life optimization. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T symbols. Experience with 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines (e.g., Haas, Brother, Doosan or similar). Familiar with machining tight tolerance plastic parts. Comfortable assisting with fixture design and setup optimization. Prior experience in a regulated or quality-driven environment (e.g., ISO 9001). Work Environment: Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying temperatures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) required. Hands-on role requiring standing, manual dexterity, and occasional lifting of materials or fixturing. Ability to stand for extended periods.
