Job Title: Production Support MongoDB Principal Engineer Position type: Full-time Contract Duration: 12 Months contract w/ extensions Location: Iselin NJ/Charlotte NC/Chandler AZ (Hybrid), (3 days onsite/ 2 days remote) As a Production Support MongoDB Principal Engineer, you will: Manage and maintain MongoDB clusters, including replica sets and sharded configurations. Design and implement high-availability and disaster recovery strategies utilizing MongoDB replication, backup solutions, and cloud-native tools. Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to meet application needs. Analyse slow queries and develop indexing strategies to enhance application performance. Automate maintenance tasks and provisioning using JavaScript, Shell scripting, and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform. Develop scripts for monitoring, alerting, and routine database operations. Ensure database security, compliance, and audit readiness in line with standards such as SOX, PCI, and HIPAA. Implement role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and auditing features to safeguard data. Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to support business initiatives. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for database incidents and implement long-term remediation solutions. Manage backup and recovery strategies through MongoDB Ops Manager, cloud-native solutions, or enterprise tools. Monitor database health and performance with tools like MongoDB Atlas, Prometheus, Grafana, or custom dashboards. The ideal candidate will have: Extensive experience in MongoDB Database Administration, demonstrated through professional work, training, or education. Proven expertise in MongoDB architecture, including replication, sharding, and performance tuning. Proficiency with MongoDB query language, aggregation framework, and indexing strategies. Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and Shell scripting. Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and storage integration. Experience utilizing monitoring and observability tools like MongoDB Atlas, Prometheus, and Grafana.
