Overview
Head of Research & Development Engineered Surfaces for a global building products manufacturer. Location: Central Florida. The Role
The Head of R&D will direct a team of chemists, scientists, and technicians, bridging laboratory breakthroughs with large-scale manufacturing execution. This leader will shape the innovation pipeline, develop new surface technologies, and ensure products meet the highest standards for performance, sustainability, and design. Key Responsibilities
Lead product formulation and innovation, driving advancements in engineered quartz and composite surfaces. Research and evaluate aggregates, resins, pigments, and additives to optimize performance, sustainability, and cost. Scale laboratory formulations into production processes with repeatability and efficiency. Partner with production and quality teams to troubleshoot complex material and process challenges. Ensure compliance with industry standards (NSF, ISO, ASTM, etc.). Mentor and develop a multidisciplinary R&D team. Build supplier and cross-functional relationships to align development with market needs. Qualifications
Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in engineered stone, composites, or polymer-based manufacturing. Strong expertise in polyester resins, thermosetting polymers, curing kinetics, and adhesion science. Proven record of taking new products from concept through commercialization. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional collaboration. Creative, innovative mindset with a passion for sustainability and process improvement. Why Join
