Job Title
The purpose of this position is to communicate with field personnel by radio or other means to transmit service requests or provide information. The position dispatches public works emergency and routine service calls. Position is on-call on a rotation. Essential Functions
Operates and monitors equipment related to public works operations; Analyze reports to verify accuracy and efficiency of work; Research cases of tampering and utility theft, coordinate with law enforcement agencies regarding assessment of charges, and review of customer usage related to the utility theft; Receives and dispatches emergency and routine service calls. Enter and update the notification system for service, with time, location and nature of trouble, Contacts Dig Tess for emergency utility locates entering this information into a computerized log. Notifies maintenance crew of line disturbance and relaying vital information to maintenance crews; Provide information to other agencies as required; contact other agencies or business for assistance or information as necessary; Answer telephone to receive emergency or non-emergency calls; obtain necessary information to dispatch field personnel; Assist in handling complaints and providing information to internal and external customers; Complete daily requests from the Internet, fax, emails and inbound mail; Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Requires a High School diploma or, GED. Requires six months to one year of experience dealing with customers or the public including analyzing large number or reports and data. Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Customer service technique and basic office procedures; Modern business office practices. Ability to: Keep accurate records and prepare accurate and meaningful reports and statements Communicate and work effectively with internal and external customers and the general public; Make decisions within the scope of established policy and procedures; Deal effectively with others in a courteous manner; Speak in a clear and concise manner; Operate a variety of office equipment; Operate a personal computer. Physical Requirements: Frequently stand and walk; Frequently flex upper truck forward; Frequently lift up to 10 pounds; Frequently push and pull objects; Frequently flex upper trunk forward, partial flexing o knees; Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height; Continuously talk, see and hear.
