Role Overview: Project Designer
We are seeking a Project Designer who will:
- Take responsibility for architectural design under the guidance of the Design Principal and collaborate closely with the project team.
- Develop alternative concepts and key project components independently.
- Create materials and participate in client presentations, internal critiques, and reviews with government agencies for project approvals.
- Understand code and cost implications to ensure design viability and compliance with project goals.
- Coordinate design efforts with the multidiscipline project team through all project phases.
- Conduct design and work sessions with the Design Principal and Project Manager, coordinating with other disciplines.
- Manage workload and ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
- Review architectural documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
- Write and edit specifications for key design materials and systems, collaborating with the Project Architect and Project Manager.
- Incorporate changes into project documents as agreed.
- Assist in construction contract administration to maintain design intent.
- Lead and mentor junior designers and staff members.
- Contribute to the studio's design culture.
- Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Architecture.
- Registered Architect.
- Experience with healthcare, educational, civic, science, and research facilities.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, and other modeling and graphics software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit and related tools.
- Graphic presentation skills.
- Experience preparing architectural documents and specifications.
