This role is with EpiSci, a subsidiary focused on redefining tactical mission autonomy and applying autonomy tools to defense and commercial domains. About the role On Axion Sim, we apply Applied’s simulation and autonomy tooling to multi-domain, large-scale autonomy simulations (e.g., EO/IR, RF). This is a "startup within a startup" with day-long iteration cycles, delivering autonomy tooling to the Defense industry. Engineers on Axion Sim work across multiple areas of development, including: Backend application implementation in a state-of-the-art simulator Integration of our tools with real autonomous stacks Much more Responsibilities Work across our entire stack to develop new products, features, and tools for customers\' autonomy development workflows Collaborate with domain experts across infrastructure, robotics, graphics, and startup veterans Carve out an area of expertise and influence product decisions Collaborate with other members in the autonomy ecosystem and learn about different approaches to solving core autonomy issues Qualifications 4+ years experience in shipping complex software Experience writing C, C++, or Python Self-starter able to quickly learn new technical tools Experience designing efficient and effective solutions to a wide range of engineering challenges Proven ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment Nice to have Working knowledge of containerization or cluster orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Experience with communication and radar systems and digital signal processing Experience working on software for defense systems Security Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have an active U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one For more information about U.S. security clearances, please refer to relevant official sources. Compensation and location Compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a component of total compensation and may vary based on experience, credentials, and other factors.
