Lead Teacher - Toddlers

Day to day as a Lead Teacher
As a new Lead Teacher for our Early Childhood program, you can expect a dynamic and engaging work environment. Your typical day will involve planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, fostering a nurturing classroom atmosphere, and collaborating with other team members to ensure the best outcomes for our students. You'll have the opportunity to participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and stay up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education.
What you need to be successful
To excel as a Lead Teacher for our Early Childhood program at the JCC, you must hold a NY State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood, Childhood, or Special Education. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues. A passion for early childhood education, creativity in lesson planning, and the ability to adapt to diverse learning needs are key for success in this role. Experience with classroom management techniques and a solid understanding of child development principles will also support you in creating a positive and enriching learning environment for our students.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or significant experience is a minimum requirement. Employees that do not hold these credentials may be asked to pursue extensive education in the field of education or a related field.
- Maintain First Aid, CPR, and MAT certifications.
- Keep abreast of current research and practices in early childhood education, and attend related trainings, workshops, and conferences.
- Competent in various skills areas such as planning, scheduling, record keeping, classroom environmental design and arrangement, classroom management, physical safety of children, and staff and parent communication.
- Attend mandatory professional development sessions, teacher meetings and family events.
- Competent in various skill areas such as music, art, science, literacy, mathematics, language development and physical development.
