Now hiring: The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Day Care Unit is seeking experienced and entry-level Teachers to work with Infants, Toddlers and 3-year-olds. Full-time and part-time openings. Compensation is $17.00-$24.00/hour, with benefits.

The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Day Care Unit supports families by providing on-site Day Care and Educational Services. Teachers are responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation of our educational programs within all age groups and classrooms. Overview of job responsibilities

  • Plan and implement with room staff a curriculum that addresses individual and group needs in conjunction with the SCSD curriculum.
  • Be flexible and able to work in all classroom environments with children 6 weeks up to 5 years old as needed to meet required classroom ratios.
  • Monitor and maintain the classroom environment including cleanliness, health and safety issues, inventory management, and requests for supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Clearance through NYS Central Registry (SCR) is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum three years related experience, with one year working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
  • Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential required within the first year of employment.
  • Associates’ Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children or in a day care/classroom setting.
  • Must meet NYS/OCFS regulations requirements.
  • Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.

Our Day Care Environment also expects staff to be willing to work additional hours as required and to meet classroom ratios at all times. Staff may have internal and external contacts requiring tact, courtesy, and diplomacy, and confidentiality of sensitive information must be maintained. Weather permitting, daily walks and outdoor activities with the children are planned.
