Full-time (40 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • General responsibility: Assisting the Dentist(s) and Dental Hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients.
  • Sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies; data entry, assembling patient charts, patient registration, billing, verification of dental insurance and customer service.
  • Open and close the dental clinic. Provide high-quality care within the scope of service for certified dental assistants. Prepare each operatory and patient for treatment. Expose digital radiographs of good diagnostic quality.
  • Provide active chairside assistance to the Dentist and anticipate the provider\'s needs. Transfer instruments for four-handed dentistry. At the end of patient care, assist the patient, clear the work site and prepare for the next patient.
  • Monitor the flow of laboratory cases; monitor and record sterilization cycles; maintain and inventory supplies; help manage patient flow in clinic; assist with dental charting as appropriate.
  • Assist in the prevention and management of dental emergencies; manage the patient during dental procedures; take impressions for study casts and custom tray; perform laboratory procedures neatly and efficiently.
  • Follow proper infection control protocols according to Tri-County\'s Dental Policies and Procedures while meeting OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards. Monitor and record all sterilization activities. Dispose of and prepare "red bag waste" for pick up by waste removal. Maintain aseptic techniques and properly sterilize instruments.
  • Routinely clean, disinfect and restock operatory. Maintain and inventory dental supplies and reorders; track and verify invoices. Assist with receptionist duties as needed. Participate in continuing education programs, including one annual training on OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.

Qualifications

  • Certification strongly preferred. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry. Proficiency in four-handed dentistry a must.
  • Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling and applications is required. Basic computer skills are a necessity with working knowledge of digital radiography and digital charting preferred.
