Motor Pool Manager

to lead operations statewide and ensure the efficient management of our vehicles and assets for the State of Idaho’s largest agency, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) in downtown

Boise. This position reports to the Division of Management Services’ Bureau of Operations. It oversees the administrative functions of the DHW motor pool in 35 locations and is responsible to manage the motor pool budget, policy and fleet management systems, including data handling and report development. In collaboration with facility Hub Managers, this position oversees the motor pool life cycle, including procurement, vehicle assignments, maintenance, repair and disposal and replacement. Ideal candidates should have good organizational skills, be self-directed and comfortable with public speaking. This position is not eligible for telework. Manage DHW’s fleet management software contracts. Manage fleet management software and telematics and equipment. Comply with all necessary measures to maintain security of and access to the system and data. Build and review system metrics to support motor pool decisions and operations. Review and approve recommendations of vehicle procurement and disposal. Approve maintenance requests. Create and maintain replacement vehicle plans for DHW. Through regional Facilities contacts, ensure vehicles retain proper records, including insurance and registration. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Some knowledge of management practices.Typically requires one year of work experience that included all the essential elements of management (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling) OR completion of two upper division college-level courses, or approximately 60 hours of management training, that included all the essential elements of management AND six months of work experience performing all management elements. Experience monitoring budgets, analyzing financial reports, and taking corrective action.Typically requires at least two years of experience monitoring budgets and analyzing financial reports to ensure accuracy and identify and correct errors in financial transactions; ensuring financial data reconciles and balances; ensuring proper cost distribution among programs; ensuring funds are properly allocated and transferred between accounts, etc.ANDthat corrective action is taken to ensure against over spending and receipts/expenditures are properly recorded and justified. Experience researching and compiling information for budget development.Typically requires at least two years of work experience where you were responsible for researching and compiling historical and other financial data, and using that data as a basis to develop budget data for management consideration. Experience interpreting and implementing policies, laws, rules, or regulations.Typically requires at least one year experience reviewing for compliance with laws and procedures or interpreting for others how laws and regulations (policies and procedures) apply to specific situations at a business operations or department level. Experience developing operating procedures.Typically requires at least one year experience developing operating procedures, including if procedures were for multiple programs, covered a variety of issues or crossed bureau or unit lines (does NOT include your own work processes).
