Job Title: Construction Quality Manager Job Description
Join a dynamic team responsible for building a brand new power plant, including a Simple Cycle 3F class Siemens CT at the Bobcat Energy Center in Iowa - Burlington, and some generation plants in Wisconsin. As a Quality Assurance Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing mechanical and civil inspection services to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Your role will involve collaborating with contractors to resolve discrepancies and ensure all construction activities align with contract requirements.
Responsibilities
Control and distribute all company quality documentation.
Monitor all quality-related activities on the project.
Perform daily onsite inspections of the work being performed.
Conduct internal and external audits on behalf of the company’s management.
Verify contractor quality requirements and manage contractor documentation submittals.
Review qualifications and training requirements of quality inspection personnel.
Monitor and manage the disposition of all issued nonconformance reports.
Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system, recommending improvements when necessary.
Review and provide feedback on all quality-related correspondence with contractor representatives.
Monitor statistical method reporting.
Review all turnover documentation upon project completion.
Engage in all quality-related activities with designated representatives.
Attend meetings and provide input on quality-related subjects as needed.
Essential Skills
5 years of experience in construction quality management.
Experience in simple cycle or similar power plant construction, such as Siemens 3F turbines or rice plants.
Strong attention to detail and conflict resolution skills.
Prior utility experience.
Willingness to travel.
Ability to plan and execute highly complex operations autonomously.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Construction experience is preferred but not required.
Experience with contractor oversight in a power plant environment.
Mechanical and civil engineering background .
Work Environment
The role is based on-site at two locations: Cedar Rapids and Burlington, requiring presence 5-6 days per week for 5-7 years. The Cedar River Generating Station is a natural gas electric generating facility with a capacity of approximately 94 net megawatts (MWac), consisting of five Wärtsilä W18V50SG RICE generators. You will be working directly for the utility, with optional mileage reimbursement and the need for your own truck.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
